Terms of Use & End User License

RedactSafe · Last updated: 10 July 2026

These terms govern your use of the RedactSafe software and website (the "Software"), operated by North Star Initiatives, Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). By using the Software or purchasing a license you agree to these terms.

1. What the Software does — and what it doesn't

RedactSafe is a tool that assists you in redacting PDF documents. It runs entirely in your web browser; your documents are not uploaded to, processed by, or stored on our servers.

You are solely responsible for reviewing the output. Redaction is only applied to the areas you mark (manually or by accepting automatic suggestions). Automatic detection is a pattern-matching aid — it can miss content, including text in images, scanned pages without a text layer, unusual encodings, or information it was not configured to find. Before distributing any exported document, you must review every page of the output to confirm that all content you intended to remove has been removed.

2. License

Free tier: personal and commercial use permitted; output includes a watermark. Professional license: one named user, perpetual, non-transferable. Team license: up to ten named users within one organisation, perpetual, non-transferable. Licenses cover all updates we release. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Software or license keys.

3. Privacy

The Software makes no network requests after page load and transmits no document content, telemetry, or analytics. Purchases are processed by Stripe; their handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy. We receive only the purchase information Stripe provides (name, email, amount) to deliver your license.

4. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided "as is" and without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that redaction will be complete, error-free, or suitable for any regulatory or legal standard. We do not warrant that the Software meets the requirements of any court, regulator, or professional body.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Software is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; (b) we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data, reputation, or business, including loss arising from disclosure of information contained in documents you processed with the Software.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law. Where liability for breach of a non-excludable guarantee can be limited, it is limited (at our option) to re-supply of the software or the cost of re-supply.

6. Refunds

30-day money-back guarantee on all paid licenses, no questions asked. Email us from your purchase email address.

7. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. We may update these terms; the version published here applies to use after publication.
