How to redact a bank statement before sharing it

Landlords, lenders, visa offices, and accountants ask for bank statements constantly — but they almost never need everything on the page. Proof of income doesn't require your transaction history; proof of address doesn't require your balance.

Redact by purpose

• Proof of income: keep salary deposits; redact other transactions, balances, and full account numbers.
• Proof of funds: keep the balance; redact transactions and account numbers except the last digits.
• Proof of address: keep name, address, bank letterhead; redact essentially all financials.

Do it without uploading the statement
